I have been teaching middle school history in San Diego for twenty years. I currently work in the Sweetwater Unified High School District. The recent focus on STEM and STEAM has made me wonder where history falls within this science based emphasis. I quickly realized that history is the one class that can easily include creative art projects, fun engineering challenges and engaging history labs that demand critical reading, thinking and writing.
I want to share and exchange ideas with other history teachers who are looking for ways to engage and inspire kids.
